Ok, last Sunday I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I don’t know if it’s because I probably have a bias since I do love Tim Burton films, but I thought he did an amazing job with the Wonderland world.
*Warning: if you haven’t seen the movie, be careful… I tend to leak spoilers ^^’*
The trailers made the movie look like it was going to be super creepy, but it wasn’t. I was reserved to recommend it to my friends who have small kids, but after seeing it I know that it was surprisingly non creepy! Which is odd because I was always afraid of the old 1950’s Alice in Wonderland when I was a kid. Everyone seemed so mean and they would lose their tempers all the time…and the part when she thinks she has finally found the path home and that dog sweeper comes through and sweeps up the entire path but the patch she is standing on, man, it always bothered me. But in this version, all of the, um, allies, were actually friendly. I mean, they are all pretty nutty and mad…but they actually wanted Alice around this time haha.
Besides this being Alice in Wonderland AND a Tim Burton film, I was also t totally excited that Johnny Depp was the Mad Hatter! He did not disappoint…of course, Depp is always a great actor. Helena Bonham Carter was a GREAT Red Queen. She was both funny and frightening and she has some of the most memorable lines in the movie. The March Hare was hilarious too.. And the actress who played Alice did a wonderful job…and she had such pretty hair!
The movie in 3D was amazing! It was a visual feast, especially when she falls down the rabbit hole. I was completely in awe! The visuals are already mesmerizing and 3D makes them even more memorable.
Sometimes the movie was a bit odd…but that’s kinda a given. It was a bit long…and my sister, who is 18, and all the children in the audience, started getting antsy. The Hatter’s dance was more than a little weird, but I guess they threw that in to get the kids attention again.
Overall, I really enjoyed it! I’m glad to have gotten another chance to journey to Wonderland! *^_^*
I haven't seen the movie but now I really want to see it. Well, guess I will have to rent..LOL
