Walnut and Acorn Owls!

Ok, so, I don't live near....well, anything. It sucks. There's no craft supply stores anywhere near me. I have to drive an hour and a half for any hope of finding descent supplies! Of course, there's always Walmart...but it's craft supplies are pretty laughable... >_>

Any who, I have decided to adapt rather than just sit around sulking! I've taken to foraging! Yes, that's right, foraging! And here are some of the results of said foraging :)

The little acorns with painted faces I'm going to do something with them next. My entire weekend has been taken up in owl making/nut gathering.

Welp, that's it for now *^_^*

I listened to this song religiously while I sewed him! It's so catchy...and the chorus really fits :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKyG1dRoDlA

Bubble Puppy for Jumponics and new dolls!

The lovely Nicola (Jumponics) got me a 3 month premium membership on Deviantart so I made her a bubble puppy! I hope she likes him! :D
Also, here's some critters I have made in the past couple of days!

First up is Link!! I love Link! And this one comes with an awesome little fairy in a bottle, just in case he runs low on hearts ;)

Next is Meeko the Mime bat!

And last but not least is Lime Bunz and Mr. Stix. I wanted to make something for Easter...and St. Patrick's day... so I combined the two! ^_^

Welp, that's all for now! *^_^*

Almost Alice (Alice Soundtrack) Review

I was soooooo pumped when I found out that they were releasing a cd inspired by the movie! After hearing it, it's not completely awesome, but it's still a good cd.

Ok, I was disappointed in some of the songs because, although they are catchy, the only thing they say that relates to the story is they will throw in a "follow me" or they will mention the Drink Me bottle or something. I was hoping for something a bit more Alice fueled and original. But none of the songs are terrible.

My favorite song on the CD is "The Lobster Quadrille" by Franz Ferdinand. It's way more original than the others and it sounds like it's part of the story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycbOAwO1KpA

Other more Alice-ish songs on the soundtrack are: Alice, Her Name is Alice (which is darker but still really good), Painting Flowers, and Welcome to Mystery

Other songs like Poison, Strange and Always Running Out of Time, are all good songs, they just don't have the Alice feel to them... Still, Strange is one of my favorite songs...just not very Alice-ish to me.

And, of course, White Rabbit is on this CD. Its a pretty good version of the song. My favorite White Rabbit, besides the original by Jefferson Airplane, is Collide's version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2Rd1gCxHKs

Overall, its a pretty good cd... It's fun to listen to when you are sewing. It's better than anything else, music wise, that Disney has compiled as of late.

Welp, That's all for now! *^_^*

Alice in Wonderland Review!

Ok, last Sunday I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I don’t know if it’s because I probably have a bias since I do love Tim Burton films, but I thought he did an amazing job with the Wonderland world.

*Warning: if you haven’t seen the movie, be careful… I tend to leak spoilers ^^’*

The trailers made the movie look like it was going to be super creepy, but it wasn’t. I was reserved to recommend it to my friends who have small kids, but after seeing it I know that it was surprisingly non creepy! Which is odd because I was always afraid of the old 1950’s Alice in Wonderland when I was a kid. Everyone seemed so mean and they would lose their tempers all the time…and the part when she thinks she has finally found the path home and that dog sweeper comes through and sweeps up the entire path but the patch she is standing on, man, it always bothered me. But in this version, all of the, um, allies, were actually friendly. I mean, they are all pretty nutty and mad…but they actually wanted Alice around this time haha.

Besides this being Alice in Wonderland AND a Tim Burton film, I was also t totally excited that Johnny Depp was the Mad Hatter! He did not disappoint…of course, Depp is always a great actor. Helena Bonham Carter was a GREAT Red Queen. She was both funny and frightening and she has some of the most memorable lines in the movie. The March Hare was hilarious too.. And the actress who played Alice did a wonderful job…and she had such pretty hair!

The movie in 3D was amazing! It was a visual feast, especially when she falls down the rabbit hole. I was completely in awe! The visuals are already mesmerizing and 3D makes them even more memorable.

Sometimes the movie was a bit odd…but that’s kinda a given. It was a bit long…and my sister, who is 18, and all the children in the audience, started getting antsy. The Hatter’s dance was more than a little weird, but I guess they threw that in to get the kids attention again.

Overall, I really enjoyed it! I’m glad to have gotten another chance to journey to Wonderland! *^_^*

Plushies and Adventures!

I've been working on some plushies off and on over the past few days. I have been really lazy and haven't really made much.... But here are some of the things I have actually COMPLETED over the past couple of days!
This is Tiffani. She likes to wear a Truffle costume! I made her for a competition on Deviantart http://squeakysun.deviantart.com/. Her costume comes off....but it takes way too much work >_>
Next, here is an Alice I made for a contest that the nice lady who won my first Alice is having! She is doing a series of posts called "Alice in Whatsitland" that are very interesting. You should check her out at http://vvb32reads.blogspot.com/. I will post when the contest is up and running :)
Lastly, this is a keychain I made of Alice. I found these cute little keychains in a store that have little plastic bottles filled with glitter attached to them...so, I wanted to make an Alice doll with her drink me bottle! She is really the only thing I have made to sell in like 2 weeks :s. I am currently working on a Link keychain that should be finished tomorrow! :D

Ok, now on to the adventure! So, it's warm here now. It's been in the upper 60's all week, thank god! So, me, my sister and her boyfriend all walked to the creek down the road from my house. It was really fun! The only problem is the walk OUT of that hole...god, I am still feeling it in my poor legs! :(
The woods are BEAUTIFUL down there! There are caves and rocks....and rocks that are probably cave like contraptions all over down there! Its soooooo great!

This chimney is whats left of my grandpa's old house. It was the house he lived in when he was a little boy. It's really cool to look at. It's held together with mud stuff.
You can't tell it in this picture, but it was raining when I took it. It was really surreal.
I just really like this ole tree...and the water there is really pretty. It will be until it gets warmer and humans start camping out and throwing trash in it T_T
My sister's boyfriend, Jerad. We had only been in the woods like 10 minutes and he was already a muddy mess. He ran in front of us and we caught up with him in a bend in the road...he looked like he was up to something....especially since he is holding a stick.
And, finally, this is our climb back up!! This was the half way point...god, it's rough. Just seeing this picture makes my legs burn!! I need to be more active :(

Welp, that's it for now! *^_^*
